Nate Dern can also be, specifically, a copywriter.

Copywriting Portfolio

See below for examples of my copywriting work for various in-house and external brands working for Funny Or Die, Comedy Central, video game studio 1047 Games, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Video Game Studio Lead Writer

—> As Lead Writer for 1047 Games, in addition to writing all of the game’s text and voice lines (play Splitgate 2 in 2025 to check it out!) I also wrote marketing material, including website copy and social media channel content.
—> I worked with our Head of Marketing to write the copy appearing on our website www.splitgate.com. This included promotional information about the upcoming game, explanations of new features like a faction system, and an FAQ.
—> I’m especially proud of the game’s tagline, which I developed with our Head of Marketing after numerous iterations and internal focus groups: Play Together. Stand Alone.

Social Media Content

—> I worked with our in-house social and video teams to write scripts for static image posts and videos for our social media channels, including YouTube, X.com, TikTok and Instagram.
—> One that I’m especially proud of that got over a million organic views across our platforms was internally called “What is the future of sport?” (and captioned “Sports in 2282 are wild” online). It highlighted how our upcoming game is a futuristic sport competition and teased future lore developments.
—> I worked with our audio director on all steps of the voice over casting and recording process, including writing a casting breakdown, coordinating with outside partner SIDE on auditions, and co-directing the voice over session.

Cinematic Trailers

—> I wrote multiple cinematic trailer scripts, working with our Head of Marketing and external production partner Plastic Wax, including the recently released announce trailer:

Comics

—> I wrote comics expanding the lore and worldbuilding of Splitgate 2 (full comics available to read in our digital Splitgate 2 companion app):

Social Quizzes

—> I wrote quizzes in our digital Splitgate 2 companion app that sort players into their respective faction, in the style of a Buzzfeed personality quiz:

Games Producer and Staff Writer for The Tonight Show

I was a staff writer for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for over three years. For two of those years, I was our Games Producer, meaning that I wrote and produced all of the games played on the show. This meant developing and testing new game ideas, writing scripts, working across departments to create artwork and sets, working with celebrity talent to direct them in the games, and overseeing and giving notes on the edit process. I produced hundreds of games for over 500 episodes of television, including…

—> Simple trivia games, like this “German Words Quiz” with Christoph Waltz:

—> Food competition “reality TV” style games, like the Tarik vs Jimmy Cook-Off series, such as the “Cake Off”:

—> Video game competitions, like this Among Us charity event which broke Twitch records:

—> Physical challenge games like “Will It Fit?” with BTS:

—> Party games like “True Confessions”:

—> Bluffing games like “Box of Lies”:

—> Classic gameshow games like “Password”:

And so many more! If you can think of a talk show or game show type of game, I’ve probably developed, written and produced a version of it.

Funny Or Die — Branded Content

—> As a Senior Writer at Funny Or Die, I wrote, produced, directed and sometimes acted in videos for brands. For example, this spot for Panera, where I played the role of “Dan Slice: Breakfast Ambassador.”
—> And here’s a video I wrote, directed, and promoting the Funny Or Die Oddball Festival:

Comedy Central — Branded Content

—> Here’s a man on the street video I co-wrote and directed as Head Creative of Comedy Central for their Clusterfest comedy festival. While there, I oversaw the creation of over a hundred videos for their social media channels, which collectively got tens of millions of views.
